On Tuesday we also created dens and thought about how we could make the end of the den higher. The screams and laughter of delight were infectious. We also planted our giant sunflower seeds. I am sending these home and I would like the children to nurture the plants until they are tall enough and strong enough to be brought back into school for us to plant. There is going to be the tallest sunflower competition.
On Wednesday, our governors visited to look at number and math's throughout the school. The children thoroughly enjoyed the various activities, the main learning objective being adding 2 single digit numbers together and finding the total. We also measured using trundle wheels, made shapes in the sand, used water and paint brushes to record numbers, matched socks into pairs to hang on the line and count in 2s, used containers and water to explore capacity and I'm sure there was something else.
We also made our hilarious grass heads and are now looking forward to the grass growing and covering the head. I'm sure the children will be trimming it before long. Please do come and look at them when dropping off and see if they change each day.
The children loved swimming on Tuesday. They were very independent and enthusiastic. No tears and lots of children happy to put faces in water. For now, swimming is on a Tuesday afternoon but after half term it will be Tuesday and Thursday. However I would like swim kits in every day as there might be the occasional free time on the school timetable where we can just pop out.
