Tuesday stay and plant is cancelled

I am not sure about the continually changing weather patterns and I am going to cancel the planting session on Tuesday morning. Hopefully we will be able to plant through the week instead.

Thank you

Sorting and measuring crocodiles. Part of the carousel of learning on Thursday and Friday to support Religious Education and the Sikh story of the Priest and the crocodile. We were learning that it is not nice to judge people by their looks or if we think we are better than others.

Creating an animal from Percy the Park Keeper using different mediums.

Child initiated free flow. I am assessing interactions with other children, communication and language as well as understanding the world.
Colouring in a scene from the crocodile and the priest; physical development (can we keep within the lines and colour in similar directions)

A super example of learning together, cooperating and listening to each others ideas.
Supported art work with everyone helping in the making of the larger animals.

 We went snail hunting.
Independent sentence writing in response to a dictated sentence, increasing speed as well as using tricky words.

Number addition bingo. Finding the number sentence to match the answer; solving number problems, adding 2 single digit numbers.

This group demonstrated amazing independent learning , perseverance and keeping on going. Very proud of you.

Percy the Park Keeper update

Good afternoon,
today we have been doing some fantastic art work using a variety of medium from collage to pastels and finally water colours which the children loved. I have been encouraging children to look carefully and reproduce detail. The animals are being cut out and added to our Percy the Park Keeper display. Whilst the display might not be finished yet, please feel free to come in on Friday morning to have a look at the variety of animals. Your children love art and have asked for another whole day. Usually the art table is set up as a child initiated/ teacher led activity so it was lovely to see the excited children. I will add photos onto the blog later in the week as my i-pad is recharging at home. I need to close doors by 8.50 on Friday so the children can get changed for PE so it is better to be earlier than later.

The vets clinic opened today and the children enjoyed caring for our pets. There were bandages galore. The Percy Park Keeper shed is being developed next week. The forecast for Tuesday at the moment is looking reasonably dry so if you would like to join us for a planting experience please do. We will be making grass heads or grass caterpillars and planting sun flowers for our growing competition as well as looking at who is taking the best care of their sunflower. I need to register the children but we will start as soon as we can, probably no later than 9. I thik it will only take about half an hour.

Don't forget small cardboard boxes like cereal or cardboard tubes. These are to be used to create junk models. The more boxes the better the models.

If you have any old pans that you are thinking of throwing out please can we have them. In summer we love our outside learning and making noise.

Thank you
Mrs Bq

Home learning

Hello everyone, a parent came in this morning concerned over the home learning and a little confused over what was meant by research. Sorry, these are just words that are used on a daily basis in class and other situations.I would like children and parents to choose an animal from Percy the park keeper and find out facts/ information about that animal. These may include being nocturnal, what these animals eat and where they are found. Research can be on the internet or in books or even just talking about what the children know. Home learning can be presented in any form from short lists to pictures or models.
Thank you
Mrs Bq

Start of term 5

Hello,
I hope you have all had a lovely holiday and that we are seeing the last of any illnesses. We will be venturing outside for PE this term so children will need a pair of black daps or trainers without laces unless your child can independently do laces up. I believe it is getting warmer towards the end of the week so children can bring in a named sunhat if they would like. Don't forget to apply sun cream if needed.

We will be having a big push on reading this term and will be having a little competition to see who can read the most times at home each week.

Our theme is Percy the Park Keeper and other animal stories. We will be developing the little blue shed into Percy's shed and would appreciate any small plastic flower pots and other useful gardening implements. The role play inside is becoming a vets clinic. Mrs Dix has a trip to a local farm planned and I think we are trying to get a vet to visit us in school.

See you tomorrow,
Mrs Bq
