Reading folders

Please don't forget reading folders on Monday as I would like to collect books in.

After Christmas I will be introducing a stay and hear your child read session as well as sharing your child's learning journals. I hope to do this on a weekly basis although I will try and change which end of the week it is as well as alternating mornings or afternoons. I won't start this in the first week as children will need to settle back into class routine.

Please do fill in speech bubbles of special events and moments as these will be added to their learning journal. Whilst I am reading lots of lovely things in the purple reading records, I am unable to transfer these to their journals. I will put more speech bubbles in the reading folders.

After Christmas our topic will be traditional tales and I thought we would start with Jack and the Beanstalk. I hope to embed this story across all areas of the curriculum and we will be learning to retell the story using words and actions.

Little Angels

A taster of what your gorgeous children look like. Thank you for all the costumes. 

I will be collecting reading books in on Monday 18th. As Christmas is such a busy time I think reading books should be left in school, however please do keep learning the tricky words. Once your child has got the yellow words, it will be good to try learning how to spell some of the simpler ones.

Do not send book bags on Tuesday 12th as it will be far too busy after the Nativity to hand them back.

Please do not send book bags in on Friday as we can't hand them out after the pantomime.

 

There are a couple of angels missing so I will try and catch them before the Nativity tomorrow.

Nativity

Please can all costumes be in school for Monday 4th December. We will be having our first dress rehearsal on Tuesday 5th.

It was lovely seeing you at the information evening on Monday and whilst initially I had planned a 15 minute presentation, I thought it more enjoyable to share extended ideas especially since everyone was in the first sitting. I hope you found it useful.

Thank you for encouraging your children to come into school by themselves. This is all part of increasing independence as well as getting them ready for learning. Please can I remind you that home learning must now be done in pencil rather than pen. We are continuing to do lots of reading in class as part of everyday learning. However due to Nativity rehearsals and singing we will not necessarily be hearing readers in the next two weeks but will change books if there is evidence of support from home. We will also be monitoring the tricky words. Don't forget, these are words that are sight vocabulary and not sounded out (even if they can be).

I will be sending PE kits home this week as we have stopped PE for now.
