A summer weekend

After rushing from school yesterday, I went to help Miss Hyde, Mr Thomas and Mr Dyson at the Wansdyke netball and football tournament and thought how lovely it is to see my previous reception children develop as sports people. This was repeated today at Worton festival where we were joined by Mrs Dummett and her enthusiastic football eye and I reflected on how many wonderful opportunities that children have at primary school which weren't really around a few years ago. Both netball and football experienced lots of success. I am already spotting a couple of bright sporting stars for the future and thinking of how we can develop these skills further.

With this in mind, can I remind everyone that sports day is on Wednesday and it starts with a picnic lunch on the field with your children. Information about sports day went home last week. I will be taking photographs throughout the day to capture these memories. Children need to be wearing their house tee shirt and plenty of sun cream and a hat if possible. For this day only I would encourage the children to bring a named water bottle as there will be limited access inside. I will also be sending PE kits home on Tuesday as I would like all children to come in them on Wednesday. This just makes it a little easier for them.

The only possible day for swimming this coming week is Tuesday so please can everyone have swim kits in school and earrings removed. After the holidays, we will have two regular sessions, one on a Tuesday and one on a Thursday.

The children had a super time at the farm and loved meeting the animals and seeing the tractor up close. For some, the highlight was the coach trip.
