I put a small note in reading records today about the Y1/ YR cake sale next Thursday. This is a joint fund raising effort organised by RAFT and cakes will be sold after school.
As we were cold outside, I thought that the snow could come inside. This led to some fantastic investigations and language.
About to put snow into the staffroom freezer. I must remember to get it out.
We wanted to find out if our milk fridge would keep the snow frozen.
Yes the radiators were on and the snow melted quickly.
As the snow in the tuff tray had all melted, we decided to investigate floating and sinking.
This week we have been learning all about Spring and making comparisons with winter. We have been matching baby animals to the parent and thinking about whether they looked like each other albeit smaller. Very confusing when it came to a frog and a butterfly. We then started to think about Easter and what the children understood about it. This was my starting point for assessment and I will reassess next week to see if they have a different understanding. One little boy demonstrated an understanding that was exceeding the ELG for Understanding the world and could talk about what happened to Jesus and why Christians go to Church at Easter. For most children it was the thought of the Easter bunny arriving that made Easter important to them.
The children go for their walk to Jubilee woods tomorrow with Mrs Dix. I will try and post more photos if some are taken.
