Snow disruption

I hope everyone had a lovely day together last Friday in the snow. As much as it is a novelty for a brief moment, we were very fortunate that it didn't last very long. I overheard a conversation in school that thee might be part 2 of dressing up day on the last Thursday of term so my outfit may be worn after all.

I will be sending out the photocopies of parent based discussions hopefully today. I just don't seem to have had time to do this yet. A common theme from parents evening revolved round your children becoming more independent in their learning and having a good go. The more confident children are at reading and writing tricky words the greater their resilience in having a go. Please continue supporting your child with all the home learning ideas I have sent home or shared on the blog.I know several parents said they do hear their children read on a regular basis but forget to write in the purple book. Please can you acknowledge in the book that you have heard the children read as this helps us when we come to change books.

This week we have introduced subtraction/ take away both practically by the removing of objects and as a recorded number sentence. The children understand that subtraction/ take away means that there are fewer left. Always good to reinforce this concept if your children eat sweets or even using segments of orange/ pieces of fruit.
